Kentucky has some of the least expensive electric power in the country. We tend to take it for granted. Many, if not most, of our appliances are electric. But even with some of the cheapest electricity in the country, sometimes our electric bill seems too high. Why? What is causing the high electric bills? It’s really hard to know what is causing high electric bills without having some rather detailed historical data to know where the electricity is going.

Since I installed this system in our home, I have been able to monitor the electric power used by our house and garage as often as I like, and I am able to determine what is using the most electricity at any given time.

By being able to see what uses a lot of electricity at any given moment, we have been able to cut some of our electric power expenses. In fact, we are considering replacing our electric stove and electric dryer with natural gas powered equivalents.
